The Chubby Little Girl They Laughed At
How pitiful and sad and heartbreaking
For Deborah Ann to go to school each day
For how the kids in her class would all laugh
At just how much Deborah Ann did weigh
They would scoff at her at the lunch line
About the double order that she'd consume
And yes she would hear them all
Whispering fat jokes in
the room
This went on the rest of the school year
And no one in the school would confide
At times she felt so helpless
She would sometimes skip class and hide
And so I will end this story
About how words and humiliation can damage
So much so that an overweight person
Can feel self conscious about eating a sandwich
