How sad it is to see
Our loved one's in such a state
Because we remember way back when
When their memory was so top rate
But now we watch in sadness
And cannot believe it's true
That, that someone so quick with wit
Is now someone we once knew
But we do everything we can
Anything that we can employ
A couple jokes to make them laugh
Or their favorite food to enjoy
Dementia is a terrible thing
For our loved one's to ever go through
And all we can do is watch
And hope for a miracle or two
