SIMMONS, JR.
With great pride and joy we announce the promotion selection of our son Lieutenant James W. Simmons, Jr. to Lieutenant Commander (LCDR).
Lieutenant Simmons, the son of Mrs. Brenda C. Simmons and the late Mr. James W. Simmons, Sr. was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Penn Hills High School in June 1986 and immediately joined the U.S. Army and then the U.S. Navy in September 1988. He has currently served 25 years of honorable military service and plans on serving an additional 5 years.
Lieutenant Simmons' personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), and various campaign and unit-level awards.
