Pamela Ruth VanHaitsma and Jess Hughes Garrity celebrated their marriage in a ceremony on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Union Project in Pittsburgh. Stacey Waite, a friend of the couple, officiated. Pamela [left], 35, will join the faculty of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA as an Assistant Professor of English this fall. She graduated summa cum laude from Saginaw Valley State University, and has earned two master's degrees, one in Women's Studies from Ohio State University and one in English from San Francisco State University. An Andrew Mellon Predoctoral Fellow, she will be conferred a doctoral degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh in August. She is a daughter of Robin and Roger Mosher of Marion, MI. Her mother is a certified mastectomy fitter and customer service representative at CareLinc Home Medical Equipment in Cadillac, MI, and her father is a self-employed handyman. Jess, 38, works as a Senior Research Associate at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh and received a master's degree in Women's Studies from the University at Albany, State University of New York. She is a daughter of Bette L. Hughes of Okeechobee, Florida, and the late Frank M. Garrity of Pittsburgh. Her mother works as an account manager with Akoya, a Pittsburgh-based strategic communications firm. Her father was president of Bally Design, a Pittsburgh industrial design firm.
