70th Wedding Anniversary
Dr. and Mrs. Ralph A. Benson, of White Oak, recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. The former Mathilda J. Bendl of Latrobe and Dr. Benson of Greensburg were married September 19, 1945, at Holy Family Church in Latrobe by the Rev. Thomas O'Connor. An Army Air Force veteran of World War II serving as a Major and Navigator, Dr. Benson is a former machinist at the Irvin plant, US Steel, machine shop teacher at McKeesport Vocational School, lecturer at the University at Pittsburgh, and Vocational Services Supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Mrs. Benson is a retired Lieutenant from the Navy Nurse Corps and a former registered nurse at McKeesport Hospital. They are the parents of Ralph A. Benson, Jr. (Jane) of Bethel, OH, Lewis B. Benson (Linda) of Sewickley, Joseph G. Benson (Martha) of Murrysville and John F. Benson of White Oak. They are the grandparents of John, Joshua, Anne and Joseph Benson and Emily Reis (Patrick); and the great-grandparents of Vincent Benson and Jospeh, Julia, Gemma and Gianna Reis. A 70 Years of Marriage celebration at the Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh Hotel, sponsored by the children on August 16, 2015, was enjoyed by family and relatives.
