A Mother's Day Story
She loved her children
More than life itself
And she always put her pride
Upon the shelf
Walked around in rags
And holes in her shoes
Because she never wanted her children
To have the blues
Yes she fed them and clothed them
And put shoes on their feet
And made sure at the table
There was something to eat
And she sent them to school
With their hair combed real nice
And a sandwich for lunch
Because that would suffice
And she worked two jobs
To pay for the rent
Yes this wonderful Mom
Was heaven sent
So her kids grew up
Respectful and kind
And always had their Mom
On their mind
Their Mom went to heaven
Some years ago
And the legacy she left
Will forever grow
